The Friesian

The Friesian is a breed of horse from Friesland, a province of the
Netherlands. They
stand from 14.2 to 17 hands and are considered to be light
draft horses.
The breed is
known for a fast, high stepping trot. They are willing and energetic horse while remaining
gentile and docile. The Friesian is generally
all black although they tend to shade toward
chestnut in color. The Friesian
also sports a beautiful long and full mane and long black
silky hair on their lower legs which gives the breed an elegant look. Modern day Friesians
are being
introduced to the sport of dressage.
