The Arabian

The Arabian is perhaps the oldest breed of horse that we know of. It was developed in northern
Africa and the deserts of the Mid-east. There is archeological evidence of Arabian type horses
dating back 4500 years in and around the deserts of the Mid-east. Arabians are smaller than most
horses standing from 14 to 15.1 hands and weighing from 800 to 1000 pounds. They excel as
endurance horses which is long distance, cross country racing. Arabians have small heads with
large eyes and a small muzzle. They have a long arched neck and short back. When you use the
term purebred, this breed of horse is about as close as you can get.
